Faton Bislimi, a Kosovo advocate in the United States, has announced that U.S. Congressional Resolution 1451 has been introduced in Congress, calling for the 2027 Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to be held in Charleston, South Carolina, instead of Belgrade, Serbia.
According to Bislimi, the resolution was introduced by Congressman Joe Wilson, a longtime supporter of Kosovo, and has been co-sponsored by around 40 Republican and Democratic lawmakers, reflecting bipartisan support. He described the initiative as an important milestone, emphasizing that consistent engagement and advocacy for Kosovo’s interests in Washington are producing tangible results.
Bislimi stated that, for more than two decades, he and other advocates have argued in Washington that lasting stability in the Western Balkans cannot be achieved by rewarding policies that run counter to the strategic interests of the United States and its allies. He reiterated that Serbia continues to serve as a key platform for Russian influence in Europe while simultaneously strengthening ties with China and Iran, making it essential for Euro-Atlantic institutions to send a clear message in defense of democracy, the rule of law, and collective security.
He added that these concerns are reflected in Resolution 1451, which opposes hosting the 2027 OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Serbia. Bislimi concluded by thanking Congressman Joe Wilson and the bipartisan group of co-sponsors for their continued support of Kosovo, stressing that the U.S.–Kosovo partnership remains the strongest guarantee for peace, regional stability, and Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic future.
