Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi met at the White House with Michael Carpenter, the Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council in the Biden administration.

“Expressing gratitude for the support to Kosovo, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi emphasized the partnership, friendship, and unwavering alliance with the United States of America.”

According to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting focused on “the perspective of the dialogue and the way forward in normalizing relations, with an emphasis on implementing the Basic Agreement and the Ohrid Implementation Annex, where Kosovo remains constructive and committed to the process.”

Bislimi also spoke about the attack in Varagë, Zubin Potok, saying it is a sign that Serbia is not ready for normalization of relations.

“The Deputy Prime Minister said that the recent terrorist attack last week in Varagë, Zubin Potok, on the Ibar-Lepenc canal is another indicator that Serbia is not ready for normalization of relations and good neighborly ties. He stressed the need for concrete measures to punish the aggression in Banjska in September last year, as well as the recent attack in Ibar-Lepenc, in order to prevent Serbia from repeating such attacks that undermine the security of the country and the region.”

“Furthermore, he discussed the encouraging policies undertaken by the government to support the Serbian community in Kosovo and facilitate their integration.”
