A condolence reception is being held today in New York in honor of the late Congressman Eliot Engel, organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Kosovo in New York in cooperation with activist Harry Bajraktari.

Through a Facebook post, Bajraktari invited the Albanian-American community to attend the reception and pay their respects to Engel, describing him as a great friend of the Albanian nation.

“Your participation honors the figure of a great friend of our nation, who for more than three decades was one of the strongest voices in the United States Congress in support of the Albanian cause,” he wrote.

Engel, who served as Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, is widely regarded as one of the key figures supporting Kosovo’s freedom and independence, Albania’s path toward NATO, and the advancement of Albanian rights in the region.

“The Albanian nation will remain forever grateful to the man who always stood by us. May God bless Congressman Engel, his family, the American people, and the Albanian people,” Bajraktari added.
