A high-ranking Russian military officer was killed on Friday following a powerful explosion in a parked car in the town of Balashikha, near Moscow, according to Russian media outlets “Mash” and “Shot.”
According to “Mash,” the victim has been identified as Yaroslav Moskalik, who served as the Deputy Director of the Main Operations Directorate in the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Investigative Committee the country’s top federal investigative authority has officially confirmed that General Yaroslav Moskalik died as a result of the blast.
The Committee’s spokesperson, Svetlana Petrenko, stated:
“A Volkswagen Golf exploded due to an improvised explosive device packed with ammunition,” as reported by the BBC and cited by Rks News.
