The constitutive session of the ninth legislature of the Kosovo Assembly has officially begun, continuing from the second item on the agenda where it left off on Saturday, reports Rks News.

This marks the sixth attempt to elect the Assembly’s leadership. The session is being chaired by Vetëvendosje MP Avni Dehari, the oldest member of the Assembly, with assistance from the youngest MP, Sala Jashari of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).

A total of 119 MPs are present at the session.

During the last session held on Wednesday, the Vetëvendosje Movement withdrew the candidacy of Albulena Haxhiu for Speaker of the Assembly, as she failed to receive backing from other political parties. Glauk Konjufca then requested more time and a political agreement to avoid yet another unsuccessful attempt.
