Liberal representative in the German Bundestag, Thomas Hacker, criticized today’s visit of the German Chancellor, Markus Söder, to Belgrade, indicating that he should have questioned the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, about the theft of elections in Belgrade, the security of journalists, and the armed attack in Banjska, reports Sinjali.
Hacker, the parliamentary group reporter of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) for the Western Balkans, wrote on the social network “X” that the Bavarian Prime Minister boasting about receiving a medal from Vučić is counterproductive.
“I hope he asked the right questions: about the theft of elections in Belgrade, the lack of protection for journalists, and those behind the attack in Banjska (in the north of Kosovo on September 24). Serbia is no longer a pillar of stability in the region,” said Hacker.
Söder is the president of the Christian Social Union (CSU), a party that has been a long-time coalition partner of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) now in opposition. Söder’s party operates only in Munich.
At the joint media conference after the meeting with Vučić, Söder said he wants to deepen cooperation between Munich and Serbia and announced the opening of a representation of that German region in Belgrade.
Söder stated he is in favor of Serbia becoming a member of the European Union and that it would be a great loss for both Europe and Serbia if it does not stay on the European path.
