During the opening statement in the trial against the suspects accused of the attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal in Varagë, Zubin Potok, Special Prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu stated that FBI experts analyzed soil samples found on the boots of the defendants and compared them with samples collected from the crime scene.

“FBI experts analyzed samples of mud and soil taken from the boots of the two defendants, Jovan and Dragisha Viqentijeviq, and compared them with soil samples collected from the crime scene, as well as from three other separate locations, in order to verify the accuracy and origin of the soil found on the defendants’ boots,” Kodraliu said.

According to the prosecutor, the conclusions of the FBI experts indicate that the soil samples from the boots of the two defendants had the same characteristics as the soil found at the location of the attack.

“The conclusion of the FBI experts was that, unlike the samples taken from three other locations, the samples from the defendants’ boots showed no differences in terms of color, structure, mineral composition, and other physical characteristics compared with the soil collected at the crime scene. However, they differed from the soil samples taken from the other three locations,” Kodraliu stated.

He added that these findings, according to the prosecution, will be presented before the court as evidence that the defendants were directly involved in the alleged terrorist attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal.
