Ukraine’s expanding campaign of medium-range drone strikes is allowing its forces to hit Russian military assets deeper inside Russian territory than ever before, according to drone operators interviewed by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL).
A Ukrainian unit operating FP-2 drones, capable of carrying more than 100 kilograms of explosives, explained how they target air defense systems, military positions, and logistical hubs far behind the front lines.
According to the operators, these strikes are forcing Russia to redeploy military resources away from the battlefield in order to protect strategic facilities deep inside its own territory.
The growing use of long-range drones has become a key element of Ukraine’s strategy, enabling precision strikes against military infrastructure while increasing pressure on Russia’s rear areas and supply networks.
The report highlights how drone warfare is reshaping the conflict, allowing Ukraine to challenge Russia beyond the immediate front line and complicate Moscow’s defensive planning.
