Iran’s situation is “under full control” following the escalation of violence over the weekend, which reportedly left hundreds dead, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Monday.

Araghchi referred to warnings issued by U.S. President Donald Trump against Tehran, accusing “terrorist” actors with bloody motives of targeting protesters and security forces in an attempt to provoke foreign intervention.

“We are ready for war, but also for dialogue,” the Iranian foreign minister stressed.

He also assured that internet services will be restored, in coordination with security authorities.

Trump: “They Want to Negotiate”

On Sunday, President Donald Trump said Iranian leaders had contacted his administration to “negotiate”, following his threats to order military action as the Islamic Republic faces mass protests.

“Iranian leaders called,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday, adding that he is “in the process of preparing a meeting (…) They want to negotiate.”

However, the U.S. president warned that action could be taken before any meeting.

“We are reviewing the matter very seriously. The military is reviewing it and we are considering very strong options. We will make a decision,” Trump told reporters on his plane.

Asked about Iran’s threats of retaliation, Trump replied:

“If they do that, we will strike them at levels they have never been struck before,” according to Euronews.al.

Earlier, a U.S. official told Reuters that President Trump is expected to meet with senior advisers on Tuesday to discuss policy options toward Iran.
