Russian President Vladimir Putin would violate a peace agreement with Ukraine if it is not protected, said Keir Starmer, after attending a meeting with senior military leaders in London.
The UK Prime Minister stated that any agreement to halt fighting between Russia and Ukraine would only be “sustainable” if it included “security arrangements.”
He was speaking at the permanent Joint Headquarters in Northwood, London, where more than 20 countries gathered in a closed meeting to discuss proposals for troops in Ukraine to help guarantee the country’s security as part of any peace agreement.
Keir said that security agreements would make it clear to Russia that there would be “serious consequences” if they violated any agreement.
