Major General Özkan Ulutaş, the Commander of the NATO-led KFOR mission, met today in Belgrade with the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović.

The meeting was described by KFOR as a “productive discussion” covering a range of security issues critical to the region. These high-level talks are part of a regular and transparent communication framework between KFOR and the Serbian military, aimed at fostering mutual understanding and preventing potential escalations.

Key Discussion Points

According to official statements, the dialogue focused on:

  • Regional Stability: Both leaders emphasized the necessity of continued cooperation to maintain a calm and secure environment.
  • Security Monitoring: Assessments were shared regarding the current situation on the ground in Kosovo, particularly in light of recent political and security developments.
  • Mutual Cooperation: The importance of maintaining open lines of communication at all levels to address shared interests and security challenges.

General Mojsilović reiterated Serbia’s stance, recognizing KFOR as the only legitimate armed presence in Kosovo under UN Security Council Resolution 1244, responsible for protecting all communities, especially the most vulnerable.

KFOR’s Sustained Mandate

KFOR remains committed to its mission of providing a safe and secure environment and ensuring freedom of movement for all people in Kosovo.

“These interactions are essential to maintain mutual understanding and cooperation for the benefit of regional stability,” the KFOR announcement noted.

Major General Ulutaş, currently serving a historic second term as KFOR Commander (which began in October 2025), has prioritized close coordination with both the Kosovo Police and Serbian defense officials to ensure the mission’s continued impartiality and effectiveness.
