The working group tasked with drafting a comprehensive strategy in support of former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders will hold its next meeting on Saturday, Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca has announced.
Konjufca, who heads the working group, said the upcoming meeting would focus on consolidating documents obtained from various institutions and relevant bodies, with the aim of establishing a common foundation for developing the strategy.
He stressed that the group’s work would remain confidential, explaining that discussions could not be conducted openly in public.
Nevertheless, Konjufca said the group would maintain communication with the media, although information about its proceedings and the final outcome would only be disclosed to a limited extent.
According to Konjufca, the primary objective of the strategy is to contribute to the success of the former KLA leaders in the appeals process before the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.
He also provided details about the organisation and composition of the strategic group, confirming that its previous meeting focused on formally establishing the group and defining its operating rules.
A separate working group has also been established with the responsibility of compiling all ideas and proposals presented during the process into a single document.
Konjufca made the remarks at a press conference following his meeting with Swiss Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ignazio Cassis.
Cassis was also asked about the convictions of former KLA leaders but refrained from commenting directly on the case, stating that Switzerland supports the Kosovo Specialist Chambers.
