Kosovo citizen Osman Selmani, 74, who was arrested by Serbian authorities on July 1 this year at the Mutivodë border crossing, had been returning from Medvegjë to Pristina.

Friends of Osman Selmani have appealed for assistance, emphasizing that the accusations against him for alleged war crimes are unfounded, arguing that “during the period of April–June 1999, when the alleged events for which he is accused supposedly took place, he was a refugee at the Çegran Refugee Camp in Gostivar.”

“According to all the information available to us, during the period of April–June 1999, when the events for which he is accused allegedly occurred, Osman Selmani was a refugee at the Çegran Refugee Camp in Gostivar,” wrote Nebi Hoxha in an appeal published on Facebook.

The Higher Court in Serbia has ordered a 30-day detention measure for Selmani after he was arrested on July 1 at the Mutivodë border crossing on suspicion of committing war crimes.
