Lawmakers in the Assembly of Kosovo have approved the draft law on the organization of the Mediterranean Games Prishtina 2030, with 64 votes in favor.
The legislation marks a key step in preparations for hosting the regional multi-sport event, which is expected to bring significant infrastructure development and international attention to Kosovo.
However, the draft law faced criticism from opposition parties. Blerta Deliu of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) raised concerns, citing warnings from the EU Office in Kosovo that the project could pose risks to public finances.
Despite these objections, the majority of deputies backed the initiative, which is seen as a strategic investment in sports infrastructure and international engagement.
During the same session, the Assembly also approved other key pieces of legislation, including laws on temporary price control measures and mandatory health insurance.
