The Kosovo Police launched an extensive operation on Wednesday morning targeting Serbian parallel structures in several locations across the country. This operation, carried out in coordination with relevant institutions, aims to address the ongoing issue of illegal structures functioning under Serbia’s system within Kosovo’s territory.
According to a statement from the Kosovo Police, the operation spans multiple regions, including Prishtina, Gjilan, Gjakova, and South Mitrovica. While specific details of the raid have not yet been disclosed, the police have confirmed that further information will be provided once the operation is completed.
In the past year, Kosovo authorities have shut down several institutions operating as part of Serbia’s parallel system. These closures have included temporary municipal offices in Peja, Istog, Klina, Skenderaj, and northern municipalities, as well as branches of Serbia’s Post Office in northern Kosovo, safes of Serbia’s National Bank in Leposaviq, and postal savings banks.
These institutions, functioning illegally under Serbia’s governance framework, have been a source of contention, undermining Kosovo’s sovereignty and institutional authority. The latest police action is a continuation of efforts to strengthen the rule of law and assert Kosovo’s legal jurisdiction across its entire territory.
Updates on the results of this operation are expected later today.
