The Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPI) has recommended that the Director General of the Kosovo Police suspend the institution’s Director of Procurement amid a preliminary investigation into alleged abuse of official position and potential conflicts of interest in public procurement procedures.

In a statement issued on November 5, 2026, the Inspectorate said its investigators were examining circumstances surrounding dozens of procurement contracts awarded through negotiated and confidential procedures.

The investigation is focused on decision-making processes, the manner in which the contracts were handled, and whether those responsible complied with the applicable legal requirements and criteria.

“To ensure the integrity and proper conduct of the investigative process, the IPI has recommended that the Director General of the Kosovo Police suspend the official from duty until the criminal investigation is concluded,” the statement said.

The Kosovo Police Inspectorate is conducting the investigation in coordination with the Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Inspectorate said it would take all necessary investigative measures to establish the full circumstances of the case, stressing its commitment to addressing suspected abuse of official duties, violations of institutional integrity and breaches of the law by police officials, regardless of their position or rank.

The IPI said it could not provide further details at this stage in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.

The allegations remain under investigation, and no determination of criminal responsibility has been announced.
