The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC) has approved the launch of a competition to recruit 34 new state prosecutors, as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s prosecutorial system.
Under the decision, 24 positions will be open to general competition, while 10 positions will be reserved for representatives of non-majority communities, including the Kosovo Serb community.
The competition is scheduled to be announced on August 17, with the application and selection process to be conducted in accordance with applicable legislation.
KPC Chair Arian Gashi called on members of the Kosovo Serb community to apply, stressing that the representation of all communities within the justice system is important.
“I encourage all members of the Serb community to apply and guarantee that the process will be transparent, fair and impartial,” Gashi said.
During the same meeting, the KPC appointed a commission responsible for the recruitment process. The commission will oversee all stages of the selection of the new prosecutors.
The commission will be chaired by the KPC chair, while its members will include Elza Bajrami-Kastrati, a KPC member; Dardan Mulliqi, a non-prosecutor member of the council; Bahri Hyseni from the Office of the State Prosecutor; and prosecutor Valdrin Krasniqi from the Basic Prosecution in Prishtina.
Prosecutors Visar Krasniqi and Milot Krasniqi were appointed as reserve members.
The decisions concerning the opening of the competition and the composition of the recruitment commission were approved by the members of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council.
