American foreign policy expert Charles Kupchan has assessed that Kosovo’s involvement in a Stabilization Force mission in Gaza Strip represents limited and largely symbolic risk.
According to him, although there are uncertainties regarding the mission’s full mandate and the role troops will play on the ground—including the possibility of confronting the forced disarmament of Hamas—Kosovo’s contribution remains small in scale.
“Serious risks are minimal, aside from the possibility that a soldier could be injured or lose their life during the mission, as well as potential political reactions,” Kupchan stated, describing the engagement as a low-risk contribution.
He emphasized that Kosovo’s participation should also be viewed through a strategic lens, as an effort to strengthen relations with the United States, particularly with the administration of President Donald Trump.
According to Kupchan, through this engagement, Kosovo aims to demonstrate that it is not only a reliable ally but also an active one, ready to contribute concretely to international missions.
He added that such an approach could help build international trust, which may benefit Kosovo in the future—especially in its integration processes toward the European Union and NATO.
In conclusion, Kupchan described this involvement as a “win-win” situation for Kosovo, calling it a pragmatic move that brings mutual benefits on the international stage.
