Kosovo’s preparations to host the 2030 Mediterranean Games are continuing, with several municipalities outside the capital set to take part in the event, Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced.
Following a meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Mediterranean Games (KOLM), Kurti reaffirmed that Peja, Gjakova, Prizren, Drenas and Skenderaj, alongside other municipalities, will be included in the organization, in accordance with the plan outlined in Kosovo’s original bid.
The meeting focused on the draft master plan, priority projects and the next steps in preparations for the event, officially titled “Prishtina 2030.”
Existing investments in sports infrastructure were also discussed, including the National Judo Center in Peja, the Sezai Surroi sports hall in Prizren and the Shani Nushi sports hall in Gjakova.
Among the priority projects are the Student Center, which is expected to serve as the Athletes’ Village, the Palace of Youth and Sports in Prishtina, the Aquatic Center and the National Tennis Center.
Participants also discussed plans for the National Stadium and the possibility of using the Fadil Vokrri Stadium, with increased capacity, for the opening and closing ceremonies.
At the end of the meeting, KOLM members agreed to present a joint position at their next meeting with the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games, where they will outline the next steps in preparations for Prishtina 2030.
