Officers from Serbia’s Criminal Police Directorate (UKP) entered the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure on Thursday, while Minister Aleksandra Sofronijević was asked to leave a government session, according to Serbian media reports.
The reason for the police operation has not yet been disclosed.
The Nova.rs portal reported that it remains unclear whether officers were collecting documents as part of an ongoing investigation.
Ranko Šekularac, a state secretary at the ministry, declined to provide further details, describing the situation as complex and saying he was not authorized to comment.
“State authorities should do their job. Please contact the minister’s office,” Šekularac told Nova.rs.
No official explanation for the police operation had been released at the time of publication.
