The Basic Court in Prishtina has ordered one month of pretrial detention for Zikica Belosoviq and Gruica Belosoviq, who are suspected of jointly committing war crimes in connection with the Padalishtë massacre in the municipality of Istog.
The court said detention was necessary because there was a real risk that the suspects could obstruct the criminal proceedings, evade prosecution or become inaccessible to judicial authorities if released.
In its decision, the court specifically cited the suspects’ Serbian citizenship, saying this created a concrete risk that they could leave Kosovo to avoid prosecution.
The court concluded that pretrial detention was the only measure capable of ensuring the uninterrupted conduct of the criminal proceedings in this case.
The suspects have the right to appeal the decision before the Court of Appeals through the Basic Court in Prishtina.
The two men remain suspects, and the allegations against them have not been established by a final court judgment.
