Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, met with Slovenia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Luka Mesec, to discuss a variety of topics, including the geopolitical situation in the world, with a particular focus on its potential impacts on the Western Balkans region.

According to the Prime Minister’s office, the two leaders spoke about the bilateral relations between Kosovo and Slovenia, exploring opportunities for further cooperation and the role of the Kosovo diaspora in strengthening ties between the two countries. They also delved into the broader geopolitical situation, examining potential implications for the Balkans.

Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude for Slovenia’s continued support of Kosovo, both at the European and international levels, as well as in the field of security. He highlighted the contribution of Slovenian troops serving in Kosovo as part of the NATO-led KFOR mission.

During the visit, which took place on Wednesday, Kosovo’s Minister of Finance, Labour, and Transfers, Hekuran Murati, welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Mesec and initiated a social security agreement between Kosovo and Slovenia. This agreement is aimed at easing the burden on Kosovo citizens living in Slovenia, allowing them to claim their pension rights in the country where they reside, and vice versa.
