The acting Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, will hold a joint meeting today with political parties to discuss the constituent session of the Assembly.
This meeting is scheduled to take place at 12:00 PM in the Assembly of Kosovo’s premises.
Although it was initially planned for the party leaders to attend, they will not be present. This has been confirmed by party spokespeople.
The only item on the agenda of the meeting will be: “Preparations for the Constituent Session of the IXth Legislature of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.”
The constituent session of the Assembly is scheduled for April 15, as decided by President Vjosa Osmani.
In calling for the formation of the government “as soon as possible,” the president believes that there is enough time for political parties to have the necessary discussions before April 15.
She expressed hopes that “the process will go as smoothly as possible and that the constitution will be completed on that date.”
On the same day, the LVV (Vetevendosje Movement) aims to elect the government, as declared by its leader, Albin Kurti.
The LVV secured 42.30% of the votes and will have 48 seats in the Assembly of Kosovo, according to the final results of the February 9 parliamentary elections. This means that the LVV will need a partner from the opposition to remain in power.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo received 20.95% of the votes (24 deputies), while the Democratic League of Kosovo secured 18.27% (20 deputies).
The coalition of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, with the Initiative and others, received 7.06% of the votes (8 deputies – 5 AAK, 3 Initiative).
Together, the opposition parties hold more mandates (52) than the leading party.
