A major boost for nature and citizens: Kosovo has secured €206.4 million in financial support from the European Union, including €180.5 million through the IPA 2026–2027 programmes and €25.9 million through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), announced Minister of Environment Fitore Pacolli.
A significant part of this package is dedicated to environmental protection. A total of €44 million will be invested directly in sustainable environmental development.
According to Pacolli, Kosovo’s reforms from the comprehensive waste removal programme and the creation of an integrated waste management system, to nature-based projects aimed at protecting riverbeds and managing floods have received strong recognition.
“With the approval of these funds, we are taking a major step toward improving and protecting our environment,” Pacolli stated.
She thanked the European Union for its continued support, emphasizing that these investments will contribute to cleaner, greener, and more sustainable development across Kosovo.
