Iran has accused the United States of committing a “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire agreement reached on June 17, further increasing tensions between the two countries.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that the US had undermined the provisions of the memorandum of understanding, which called for a halt to military operations and a reduction in tensions between the two sides.

According to Iranian authorities, the agreement also included commitments to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important maritime routes for global trade.

Tensions between the two countries have intensified following mutual accusations over incidents in the strategic waterway. The United States previously claimed that Iran had violated the ceasefire by attacking three commercial ships in the strait, while Tehran has denied responsibility for the incidents.

The conflicting interpretations of the ceasefire agreement remain one of the main issues fueling renewed tensions between Iran and the US.
