The Mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, will today award the “Key of the City” to renowned human rights activist Kandić Nataša.

The ceremony will be held at the old Municipal building, starting at 16:00.

Throughout the Kosovo war, Kandić traveled across Serbia, documenting human rights violations committed by Serbian police and military forces.
Despite facing anonymous threats and intimidation — including having her office vandalized with a swastika and the words “NATO spies” — Kandić and her team continued their essential work.

The evidence she gathered was later crucial in preparing indictments at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague.

Kandić has received more than 20 international, regional, and national awards for her dedication to human rights.

In a recent interview with KosovaPress, Kandić stated that Serbia’s failure to prosecute war crimes proves it is not ready to hold perpetrators accountable for the atrocities committed in Kosovo.
She also highlighted that both Kosovo and Serbia need a political agreement to resolve the issue of missing persons.

“Serbia must understand that Kosovo’s accession to international organizations serves the interests of Kosovo Serbs as well,” Kandić emphasized.
