NATO Chief Mark Rutte has confirmed that North Korean troops are stationed in Kursk, a Russian region bordering Ukraine.

Speaking from Brussels on October 28, Rutte described this development as a “major escalation” in Russia’s war in Ukraine.

According to him, this move reflects Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “desperation” after losing over 600,000 soldiers in the conflict, as reported by RFE/RL.

“The deepening military cooperation between Russia and North Korea poses a threat to Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific security,” he stated.
