Only three days remain before the petition is formally submitted to Kosovo Specialist Chambers.
The petition, which was launched in February, has now gathered over 170,000 signatures.
According to the KLA War Veterans Organization (OVL-UÇK), signatures from Albania and North Macedonia have not yet been fully counted.
Once these are included, the organization expects the total number of signatures to exceed 200,000.
“So far, there are over 170,000 signatures, if I’m not mistaken. I haven’t yet received the signatures from North Macedonia; I expect to receive them tomorrow around 4 or 5 PM. I’ve been told there are around 9,000 signatures from there. From Albania, we’ve already received a significant portion, but I don’t have the exact number yet—I’ll get precise information tomorrow,” said Hysni Gucati.
Gucati compared the weight of the petition to that of public protests.
“Petitions with strong support can carry as much weight as a protest. They reflect the voices of citizens who are dissatisfied with this Special Court—its work and its actions,” he said.
He also expressed belief that the petition could have legal impact.
“Petitions are guaranteed by international conventions, and I believe this one will have an effect. These signatures represent witnesses of events, witnesses of an unjust war in Kosovo. We are sending a message to the court and judges not to rely on prosecutors who, according to us, have used misleading information, including material from Serbia,” Gucati emphasized.
The nationwide petition, organized by the KLA War Veterans Organization, officially began on February 25, 2026.
It was launched both physically and online, extending across Kosovo, Albania, and North Macedonia, calling for the full and unconditional respect of the fundamental rights of the four former KLA leaders.
