Polish fighter jets intercepted two Russian fighter aircraft and one reconnaissance plane near the Baltic coast, Poland’s Minister of National Defence announced on Thursday.

The incident marks the third consecutive day that Russian military aircraft have been intercepted near Poland’s maritime borders.

The Russians are once again testing the capabilities of our air defense systems,” Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X on Thursday afternoon.

According to the minister, Polish fighter jets were initially scrambled in response to the presence of two Russian Su-30 fighter aircraft over the Baltic Sea. While airborne, they were redirected to intercept a Russian IL-20 reconnaissance aircraft flying approximately 30 kilometers off the Polish coast.

As in the previous incidents on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Russian aircraft did not violate Polish airspace, the minister confirmed.
