The U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati, said at an event hosted by the U.S. Embassy to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence that America’s story has been written not only at home, but also through the friendships and partnerships it has built around the world.

“Few friendships reflect that spirit more clearly than the one between the United States and the people of Kosovo, a relationship built on shared values, mutual respect, and a common belief in a future defined by opportunity and security.”

In her address, Prattipati highlighted the close partnership between the United States and Kosovo:

“Over the past year, I have had the privilege of traveling across Kosovo and meeting people who embody the very best of cooperation between our two countries.

The people of Kosovo are the bridge between our nations and proof that the values we share—democracy, creativity, and resilience are alive and thriving.

Our history has brought us together as like-minded nations that share the same goals and principles. Kosovo has always stood with the United States by supporting our priorities, contributing to the Multinational Security Force, the Peace Board, and by investing in education and technology.

Likewise, the United States stands with Kosovo. We stand with Kosovo in its efforts to build strong democratic institutions. We stand with Kosovo as it works to create a prosperous economy that attracts investment and expands opportunities for all its citizens, and we look forward to strengthening our partnership, including through increased trade that advances our shared prosperity. Because a stable, democratic, and prosperous Kosovo is not only good for the people of Kosovo—it is good for Europe and good for the world.”

Prattipati also praised Kosovo’s investments in education, innovation, and security.

“Your investment in the Fulbright Program, your commitment to innovation, and your role as a security exporter demonstrate that Kosovo is not only a partner but also a future regional leader.

As Kosovo continues to deepen its integration into the international community, the opportunities for cooperation particularly in defense, trade, economic investment, and energy—are limitless.

American businesses are looking for reliable partners, a skilled workforce, and competitive markets. Kosovo has the potential to be all three. Some of those businesses are showcasing their work here tonight. I hope you will take the opportunity to learn more about what they do and the benefits they bring to both the United States and Kosovo.”

Addressing Kosovo’s younger generation directly, she emphasized their role in shaping the future.

“I also want to speak directly to the young people of Kosovo. You are the architects of tomorrow. The future belongs to those who can adapt, innovate, and lead in a rapidly changing world. Kosovo’s greatest resource is the talent, energy, and ambition of its youth.

The choices you make, the values you uphold, and the dreams you pursue will shape not only Kosovo’s future but also the future of our partnership.

By working together, we can build a world where opportunity knows no borders, where differences are resolved through dialogue, and where every young person has the chance to shape their own destiny.”

Prattipati concluded her speech by expressing confidence in the future of the U.S.–Kosovo partnership.

“So tonight, as we celebrate America’s Independence Day, let us reflect on how far our nations have come—and on the opportunities that lie ahead.

Inspired by what we have already achieved, we can build a future defined by opportunity, driven by innovation, and strengthened by the belief that our best days are still ahead.

Thank you for your friendship, your trust, and your vision. Happy Independence Day—and here’s to the next 250 years!”
