Citizens and activists in Prishtina will protest on April 5 against a 15% electricity price increase, calling for solidarity from local businesses.
A protest is set to take place in Prishtina on Saturday, April 5, in response to the 15% increase in electricity tariffs.
Organized by the civic group “Not One Cent More”, the demonstration will begin at 3:00 PM in Skanderbeg Square, gathering citizens, activists, and business owners united against what they call an unjustified burden on the public.
Luan Hasanaj, the lead organizer, has called for widespread support, urging businesses across the capital to close their doors for one hour, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, in a symbolic act of solidarity.
“This price hike doesn’t just hurt citizens—it’s also a blow to businesses,” Hasanaj stated. “It increases operating costs and puts economic stability at risk.”
The protest reflects growing frustration with rising living expenses, especially as Kosovo’s population grapples with inflation and ongoing energy challenges.
