Blerim Sallahu of the Vetëvendosje Movement has stated that elections are the only solution if the Assembly fails to elect a Speaker even on Monday, April 21.
The acting Deputy Minister of Justice wrote on Facebook that Albulena Haxhiu was nominated for the position of Speaker because “she is among the five most-voted members of the party and the most-voted woman in the Republic of Kosovo.”
Sallahu added that he expects legitimacy and legality to prevail in the Assembly to prevent, as he put it, a repeated violation of the Constitution.
“If the Assembly remains blocked, then the only solution is elections. In other words, an agreement for the Assembly’s constitution and dissolution must be reached, because the opposition’s unwillingness to help constitute the Assembly amounts to non-acceptance of the election results,” Sallahu declared.
Vetëvendosje intends to once again propose MP Albulena Haxhiu for Speaker during the fourth continuation of the constitutive session of the Assembly.
The organizational secretary of LVV, Alim Rama, has ruled out the possibility of the party proposing another name in her place.
