The Serbian government has approved a one-time financial grant of 300,000 dinars (approximately 2,558.90 euros) for individuals arrested in Kosovo on suspicion of committing war crimes during the 1998-1999 conflict against ethnic Albanians, reports Danas.
The government states that this financial aid is intended for those who have been arrested under what it calls “fabricated criminal charges” initiated with the purpose of political persecution.
According to the government statement: “The Serbian government has approved a Conclusion for the disbursement of this financial assistance to individuals in prisons and detention facilities in Kosovo, as per records.” The assistance is aimed at individuals who are under investigation for alleged crimes committed during the armed conflicts of 1998-1999 and other fabricated criminal cases aimed at political persecution.
The statement adds that the payment will be processed as soon as possible to provide the financial support.
