The Government of the Republic of Kosovo held its regular meeting, where several important initiatives were approved that affect vital sectors for the development and well-being of the citizens of Kosovo.
At today’s meeting, the initiative of the Ministry of Finance, Labor and Transfers for the negotiation and signing of the Agreement on Social Security between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Turkey was approved.
According to this agreement, citizens of both countries will benefit from their rights to contributory pensions, family pensions and work disability pensions.
Also, the Government has approved the Draft Law on the Ratification of Amendment No. 2 of the Financial Agreement between Kosovo and the European Union for the IPA Program 2016.
This amendment foresees the extension of the deadline for the implementation of the annual program IPA 2016 for two additional years, in order to realize the projects that have encountered delays.
The meeting also approved the new Government Work Regulations, which aims to ensure an easier and more transparent communication with the public within the decision-making process.
This regulation is part of the Government’s commitment to be as close as possible to citizens and to improve its efficiency and accountability.
The Report on the Ex-Post Evaluation of the Misdemeanor Law was also approved, highlighting the main challenges in the field of misdemeanors and analyzing the implementation and harmonization of the law in force.
In addition, significant funds were allocated for projects in various sectors:
- 2,870,000.00 euros for the “Program for Regional Development”, which will be used to support 25 capital projects in 25 municipalities.
- 300,000.00 euros for the Ministry of Communities and Return.
- 200,000.00 euros for the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure.
- 100,000.00 euros for “The Kosovo American Education Fund”, in an effort to promote Kosovo.
Other decisions include the approval of decisions for public interest expropriation of various infrastructural and construction projects as well as the voluntary dissolution of “New Energy Enterprise of Kosovo (NKEC)” Sh.A., since the project for the new power plant has not been realized.
The Performance Report for Public Enterprises for 2022 was also approved, along with the “Drini i Bardhë” River Basin Management Plan, which aims to develop Kosovo’s water resources.
In the end, the Government of Kosovo has also approved several draft laws for the ratification of international agreements and the appointment of an ad hoc commission for the evaluation of the Executive Director of the Emergency Management Agency.
The Government of Kosovo concludes with the commitment to continue working towards sustainable economic and social development, always with the aim of being at the service of its citizens.
