In the local elections held on October 12, Vetëvendosje candidate Faton Peci narrowly leads Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) candidate Arian Tahiri in the race for South Mitrovica mayor, with a margin of just 122 votes in the first round.
KQZ Chairman Kreshnik Radoniqi confirmed that Peci and Tahiri will advance to the runoff.
“In the second round, Faton Peci received 15,830 votes, while Arian Tahiri received 15,708 votes,” Radoniqi stated.
Other candidates in the first round included:
- Gëzim Plakolli with 3.71% of the vote
- Qazim Nimani with 0.77% of the vote
In percentage terms, Peci secured 47.94% while Tahiri received 47.57%, indicating a very tight and competitive runoff ahead.
