The United Nations Security Council has voted in favor of a U.S.-drafted resolution supporting a 20-point peace plan for Gaza proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, BBC reports.

The resolution calls for the establishment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza — an initiative that according to U.S. officials has already received offers of support from multiple countries.

13 member states, including the United Kingdom, France, and Somalia, voted in favor of the draft resolution.
No members opposed the motion, though Russia and China abstained.

The plan includes several elements aimed at restoring stability in Gaza, and importantly, raises the possibility of a Palestinian state — a proposal strongly rejected by Israel.

However, the Palestinian militant group Hamas swiftly rejected the resolution, claiming it fails to meet the rights and basic demands of the Palestinian people.

The outcome marks a significant moment in international diplomacy concerning the Gaza conflict, though the lack of consensus among key global powers and the rejection by Hamas raises questions about the plan’s feasibility.
