In its first meeting following the formation of the new government, the Kosovo cabinet approved significant international agreements aimed at strengthening the country’s fiscal and healthcare systems.

The government ratified the Financing Agreement for the First Program on Development Policies for Fiscal Effectiveness, Competitiveness, and Green Growth with the International Development Association (IDA), part of the World Bank. The agreement, valued at €90.3 million, carries a 12-year repayment period with zero percent interest, according to Finance Minister Hekuran Murati.

Minister Murati emphasized the strategic importance of the agreement: “Considering the significance of this agreement and the favorable financial terms, I invite its approval for submission to the Assembly for ratification.”

Additionally, the cabinet approved the KOMPAS Project Credit Agreement, also with the IDA, aimed at strengthening Kosovo’s healthcare system. This credit is valued at €18.6 million with a 30-year repayment period, demonstrating the government’s focus on long-term healthcare infrastructure development.

These early decisions highlight the new government’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, sustainable growth, and improved public services, setting the tone for its first months in office.
