Italy confirmed on Tuesday that it will take part as an observer state in the Gaza Peace Board established under the administration of Donald Trump, stating that it would be politically unreasonable not to be involved.

During a parliamentary briefing, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani explained that Italy’s Constitution prevents the country from joining as a full member. However, he emphasized that observer status represents a balanced approach that allows Italy to contribute to the disarmament and reconstruction efforts in Gaza Strip, which he described as a matter of national security for the Mediterranean nation.

Tajani also stated that those who believe there is a viable alternative to Trump’s Gaza plan are not facing reality, highlighting Italy’s position on the importance of participating in international efforts aimed at stabilizing the region.
