Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti emphasized that the Kosovo Liberation Army’s (KLA) struggle was just and necessary.
Speaking at the opening of the Second International Scientific Conference of the Institute of War Crimes Committed During the Kosovo War, titled “From War to Recovery”, Kurti stressed that the ongoing court proceedings in The Hague cannot undermine the liberation and anti-colonial character of Kosovo’s struggle.
“The KLA’s war was just and necessary, for freedom and survival—not driven by a desire for violence or power. It was a response to a repressive regime, systematic oppression up to apartheid, and the denial of our people’s fundamental rights, including acts approaching genocide. The ongoing court hearings in The Hague cannot question the liberation and anti-colonial nature of our struggle, nor Kosovo’s legitimate aspirations for freedom, equality, and human dignity,” said the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, in The Hague today, the four former KLA leaders are delivering their final statements in the trial.
