Jugosllav Petroviq, wanted in connection with a robbery case registered in 2022 in Leposaviq, was arrested by the Kosovo Police on February 2, 2026. He was taken into custody after appearing on a wanted persons list.

According to sources within the Kosovo Police, Petroviq is also suspected in the killing of Bosniak activist Shefko Sallkoviq and the wounding of Edin Islamoviq in the village of Podstenje, Leposaviq, an incident that occurred in December 2010.

The same sources claim that Petroviq was allegedly part of Serbian special police units that operated during the Kosovo war, including operations in the Prekaz area.

The case of Shefko Sallkoviq recently returned to public attention following a post by Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who commemorated the activist as a symbol of civic resistance and institutional integration in northern Kosovo. In his statement, Kurti said investigations had indicated that individuals linked to Serbian security structures were responsible for the killing, mentioning Jugosllav Petroviq and Radomir Deliq as suspects in the case.

Kurti emphasized that Sallkoviq’s killing was an attack intended to spread fear and panic among those seeking integration into Kosovo’s institutions, particularly in the predominantly Serb-majority northern municipalities.

Sources further indicate that the court has ordered a 30-day pre-trial detention measure against Jugosllav Petroviq.
