Austria woke up this morning under a thick blanket of snow, causing widespread traffic disruption and chaos across the country. Vienna recorded 20 centimeters of snow overnight, prompting all city services to remain on full alert due to numerous emergency interventions.

The airport situation is critical, with traffic completely blocked. Officials confirmed that due to the ongoing snowstorm, operations were halted for 12 hours, with the hope that the first flights would resume after midday, according to Kronen Zeitung.

The storm has hit the eastern and southern highways hardest, leaving hundreds of trucks stranded, while in Tyrol, an avalanche engulfed a bus carrying 11 passengers. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Due to extreme conditions, the Vienna Ring Road was closed overnight in both directions, with snow removal still ongoing. On the A1 highway near St. Pölten, a truck carrying goods overturned, causing hours-long traffic delays. More than 30 ambulances were dispatched nationwide, and two people were seriously injured.

Additionally, over 4,000 households are without electricity as authorities work to restore services.
