Ukrainian drones struck an industrial site deep inside Russia on Saturday, with Russian media reporting that the target was a major state-owned missile factory.
The attack occurred in Russia’s Udmurt Republic, leaving 11 people injured, three of whom were hospitalized, according to a Telegram post by regional Health Minister Sergei Bagin.
Regional head Alexander Brechalov confirmed in a separate Telegram statement that:
“One of the republic’s facilities was attacked by drones” launched from Ukraine.
He acknowledged injuries and damage but did not specify the exact location or provide further details.
Reported Target: Votkinsk Missile Plant
Russian media outlets reported that the strike targeted the Votkinsk Machine Building Plant, a major state-owned defense enterprise. The reports were based on analysis of videos and images allegedly posted by local residents.
Located more than 1,400 kilometers from Ukraine, the facility is known for producing:
- Iskander missile system ballistic missiles, frequently used in attacks against Ukraine
- Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) with nuclear capability
Other Russian news channels published videos and photos reportedly from residents of Votkinsk, showing black smoke rising from an industrial area and damaged building windows.
The strike underscores Ukraine’s expanding long-range drone capabilities and the growing vulnerability of strategic military-industrial facilities deep within Russian territory.
