Germany’s Foreign Ministry has urged its citizens to leave Iran immediately due to growing concerns over a potential escalation between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to authorities in Berlin, commercial flights and land exit routes are still available, offering German nationals the opportunity to depart the country while conditions allow. Officials warned, however, that the security situation could deteriorate rapidly.
At present, several hundred German citizens are believed to remain in Iran, while the German Embassy in Tehran is operating with reduced staff and limited consular services.
In parallel, the Bundeswehr has further reduced its personnel in Erbil, leaving only essential staff on the ground. Similar precautionary steps have been taken by Norway, which has repatriated some of its troops stationed in the region amid the heightened security tensions across the Middle East.
The measures reflect growing international concern that escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran could further destabilize the region.
