Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that his country will not yield to pressure from global powers during nuclear negotiations with the United States.

“The world powers are lining up to force us to lower our heads, but we will not do so, regardless of all the problems they create for us,” Pezeshkian said in a speech broadcast live on state television.

At the same time, Iranian students chanted anti-government slogans during a gathering commemorating victims of the latest wave of protests, local media reported on Saturday. Citizens across Iran have also expressed dissent in recent days, marking the 40th anniversary of the deaths of thousands during past demonstrations, with protests peaking on January 8 and 9.

Analysts cited by international media note that the United States is considering the possibility of a serious conflict with Iran if negotiations fail to produce an agreement. Previously, reports indicated that a long-term, multi-week operation could be planned against Iran, potentially targeting its security and nuclear infrastructure.

Currently, major U.S. military forces in the region are positioned on warships and combat aircraft, with any wider bombing campaign expected to be supported by U.S.-based bombers.
