Students who have blocked the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad reacted strongly to the latest controversial television appearance of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, describing the situation in the country as unbearable.

Vučić appeared in Bor yesterday as part of what many consider an early campaign tour ahead of elections that have not yet been officially announced. As usual, the event followed the familiar format: dissatisfied citizens raising personal grievances before the president, hoping he might intervene directly.

However, at one point, the situation escalated.

While speaking with a woman struggling to obtain diabetes medication for her sick son, Vučić repeatedly pressed her to explain the issue publicly. Despite the woman stating several times that she did not want to discuss the matter in front of the child, the president insisted — repeatedly — and visibly lost patience.

Under mounting pressure, the woman broke down in tears and revealed a painful truth in front of the boy: she is his aunt, his mother has passed away, and she has been caring for him for 13 years while unsuccessfully attempting to secure legal guardianship.

The incident sparked outrage, with students among the first to react. In response to what they described as a humiliating and deeply inappropriate spectacle, they declared: “We are living in hell.”
