The public call for two members of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo will officially open on February 26, as announced by the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu.

Following a meeting of the Special Commission for the Review of Candidates for Appointment to the Constitutional Court, Haxhiu stated that the commission reached a consensus to launch the public call within days.

She emphasized that the commission has specifically agreed to encourage women to apply for the two vacant positions, noting the current gender imbalance within the Court — six male judges and only one female judge.

“In accordance with constitutional obligations, the Law on the Constitutional Court, and the notification received from the Court, we met today as the special commission for the selection of two judges. We agreed by consensus that the public call will be announced on February 26. We have also agreed to particularly encourage women to apply, considering that the current composition of the Court includes six male judges and only one woman,” Haxhiu said.

She invited all eligible candidates who meet the legal criteria to apply, assuring that the process will be transparent and professional. Final selection, however, will depend on the vote of the Assembly.

Haxhiu also announced that a call will soon be opened for one member of the Kosovo Judicial Council, adding that the Assembly has several outstanding obligations regarding the filling of vacant institutional positions.
