The Special Court of Appeals in Albania is set to review today the request of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj for release from pre-trial detention.
Veliaj is appealing the February 1 ruling of the Supreme Court (GJKKO), which rejected his request to reduce the security measure imposed on him.
In the initial trial, Veliaj sought to modify his detention, offering financial guarantees and arguing that the legal conditions for his continued isolation no longer exist.
The mayor has been in pre-trial detention since February 10 of last year, according to reports by A2CNN.
