The United Kingdom has announced its largest package of sanctions yet against Russia, targeting nearly 300 Russian entities as the country marks the fourth anniversary of the war in Ukraine.

Among the key targets is Transneft, one of the world’s biggest oil pipeline operators. According to the British government, the company is responsible for transporting more than 80 percent of Russia’s crude oil exports, making it a central component of the country’s energy sector.

Officials said the primary objective of the sanctions is to further reduce Russia’s energy revenues, which Western governments argue help finance the ongoing war. The measures also include sanctions against 48 oil tanker vessels believed to be involved in transporting Russian oil.

Announcing the move, Yvette Cooper stated that the United Kingdom had taken “decisive action to disrupt the key funding, military equipment, and revenue flows that support Russian aggression.”

The announcement comes as Western allies continue to increase economic pressure on Russia, aiming to weaken its financial capacity to sustain military operations in Ukraine.
