Dragoljub Kunarac, the Bosnian Serb previously convicted by The Hague, has been handed over to the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he will face trial again for war crimes against Bosniak civilians in Eastern Bosnia, after completing his sentence in Germany.

Kunarac served a 28-year prison sentence in Germany for several cases of rape committed in 1992, for which he was convicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague.

He will now face trial before Bosnian justice authorities on new charges related to war crimes committed in the eastern part of the country.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina accuses Kunarac of committing war crimes in 1992 in the Foča region, including the killing of at least six Bosniak civilians, for which he had not been held accountable by The Hague Tribunal.
