The acting head of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati, met with Kosovo’s Minister of Defense Ejup Maqedonci as part of a series of discussions with members of the newly formed government cabinet.

According to a statement from the U.S. Embassy, the meeting focused on strengthening defense cooperation and continued support for developing the capacities of the Kosovo Security Force. Officials emphasized that the partnership plays a key role in enhancing Kosovo’s ability to ensure its own security while contributing to wider regional stability.

“The defense partnership between the United States and Kosovo strengthens Kosovo’s self-sustainability and contributes to regional and global stability,” the embassy said in its statement.

Focus on Long-Term Security Cooperation

The discussion is part of ongoing collaboration between United States and Kosovo in the defense sector, which includes training, institutional development, and modernization of security capabilities. In recent years, cooperation has expanded through joint programs aimed at strengthening professional standards, operational readiness, and interoperability with Western partners.

Kosovo authorities have consistently identified defense development as a strategic priority, particularly through investments in training, infrastructure, and international partnerships. Support from Washington has been considered central to these efforts.

Part of Wider Engagement With New Government

The meeting between Prattipati and Maqedonci comes amid broader diplomatic engagement with Kosovo’s new cabinet, as international partners reaffirm their commitment to cooperation across security, governance, and regional stability initiatives.

Analysts note that sustained defense collaboration between the U.S. and Kosovo is seen as an important element in maintaining stability in the Western Balkans, particularly at a time of evolving security challenges in Europe.
